Bonjour my friends ♥️
With this post, I am adding another category on my blog. One that, just like sewing, makes me very very happy. Books.

This book, I wanted since… well since it was published in 2017. But I never got around getting it. I wanted to learn how to sew first, and than how to add embellishment to my impeccably made clothes.
That was until I got my hands, or better say my ears, on audio book: “Mademoiselle Coco Chanel And The Pulse Of History” by Rhonda K. Garelick. The sixteen hour journey to the early 19th century, and deep insight into life of Coco Chanel. The great details about this book I will leave for another post, since it is too good to pass through my blog with just a mention.

What I will tell you, is that the Rohandas beautiful explanations about the ways that Coco used to embellish her creations, giving them life and glory, left me inspired and craving for more. More knowledge, more style, more Coco. And when that kind of impulse calls you- you pick up the phone. Preferably while holding the book “Creating Couture Embellishment” in your hand.
And that is, my friends, the story on why I got the book.

The book itself is absolutely alluring. The big pages are full of colorful explanatory photos, and crafts to choose from. The ones that I’m the most interested in are beads&sequins, feathers and appliqué.

And although this book is so amazing in every aspect, giving practical explanations and examples of certain trades- don’t expect to become a professional with it. This is more like a general knowledge, a dictionary that will take you to some other form of studying.
If one of these techniques inspires you, the bibliography at the back of the book will help you find other books about it. Ellen W. Miller

Conclusion: I really like it, and I am very enthusiastic about everything in it. I can totally see myself upgrading my garments with such beautiful details. What do you think?
As always, thank you for stopping by
