Good morning Bebes ❤
In Serbia we have the saying: “По јутру се дан познаје” – which means you know how your day will be by the way your morning goes. Or something like that…
Of course there will be no talk about productivity here- nononooo if I hear that word one more time I will loose my mind!
I would like to talk about slowing down, relaxing, feeling pretty and enjoying the moment. Btw, have you ever heard of Italian expression Dolce Vita?
Doesn’t that inspire you? Doesn’t that make you wanna quit your job and move to Rome? And although that might not be possible for most of us (for now at least), I have some ideas of nice things we could do for ourselves early in the morning and bring us closer to Dolce Vita:
1. Make that first coffee special
This is probably what inspired me write this post on the first place, and also replace my old leaky espresso machine (after months of bad-tasting God-knows-what because that sure was not an espresso). How about we start putting an effort and making that firat cup truly special and taste not good- but great! And don’t think you need any kinda machine to that- just type in recipes for any coffee you have on Pinterest and you will find thousands (if not more) tasty ideas.
This might be just me, but I feel like there are waaay too many things we are leaving for a “special occasion”. What this is saying than, is that the rest of our experience is just not special enough to do these things. Isn’t this the saddest thing you heard? Isn’t every second of our life a gift worth of celebrating? So go on, put that nice perfume you have in the morning- why not? Celebrate yourself and your awakening to the new day. Beside, our smell sensitivity is higher in the morning so, if you ask me, there is no better time to smell nice than in the morning.
If I spend another morning in my boyfriends old sweatpants (so conveniently shrunken in a dryer for my leg length… yes I did it on purpose) and stained shirt- someone should arrest me! Let’s presume that we are all grown ups, why should we ever go by the mirror in the morning and make the face upon seeing our reflection? How about we make (if we sew) or buy (if don’t) some nice lounge wear that we can feel confident and beautiful in and set the tone for the rest of the day.
Candles & Diffusers
Now imagine this: you are waking up, slowly leaving your soft sheets, putting your feet into the soft slippers, sun is coming through the windows, gliding to the kitchen counter, drinking water, lighting up a candle or putting few drops of citrus essential oil into diffuser, and start making coffee. Mmmm… Every morning can be a mini spa treatment if we just pay attention to the details. Don’t you think?
Ultimate treat- Croissants!
89 is the number of photos I saved on Pinterest that have coffee and croissant in it. Also, any person who ever met me (EVER) knows about my not-so-mild-obsession with French culture. So let’s pretend we are French for one day in a week (unless you are French already- in that case just stay your fabulous self) and forget about our restrictions. For one day let’s evoke that room-at-Ritz-with-a-view-of-Eiffel-tower feeling with croissants, creamy coffee and pretty lounge wear…
And most importantly…
Let’s just slooow down, let’s ditch that schedule from time to time and enjoy the moment, start doing things for the sake of doing them. Imagine drinking the creamiest coffee in the Universe, sitting in the quiet and just drinking it- not doing seven other things, just sitting. It seems almost impossible sometimes… Which is the main reason why we should do it as often as possible.
I could write this post forever, but don’t worry- I’ll stop here. If you have some ideas share it in the comments, I would love to hear them.
Until than, have a lovely morning Lovelies ❤
