Hey Lovelies ❤
Can you believe it’s 2021 already?! It seems like 2020 just flew by me… In a good way. And yes, a looot of crap has happened but we won’t dwell on the negative and focus on positive (and very bright) future ahead us. These are some ideas I’ve been very much inspired by lately and I would love to have them in my life in the upcoming year:
1. Candle holders + white candles

Ever since I discovered scented candles I couldn’t imagine a purpose of one without a scent! Well, until recently. The idea of big wooden dinning table and just a few white candles in candle holder or (even better) candelabra- seems like a dream. Classic, minimal and incredibly cozy. I’m thinking something like this from Hobby Lobby or this from Terrain.
2. Classic straw boater hat

Not sure if it will look nice on my head but I want one nevertheless! When paired with flowy clothes they are sooo classy and, simply put, timeless- may I remind you of all the old paintings of aristocracy enjoying sun and wearing boater hats such as this one by Manet painted in 1874. I see myself wearing it next summer on the coast of Greece with oversized linen shirt and belt… I’m still debating on the shoes. There are beautiful options online but I really like this model by Cuyana and also, this one by Asos.
3. Gallery wall

Yes, yes and yes! Obsessed with the idea of a white wall with a bunch of abstract line art, like: female nude art, face line drawings… or anything you can think of! The best things about it is that you can do it yourself, Even if you don’t “know how to draw” (everyone does- just someone does it more accurately than other)- you can let your imagination flows because the more it’s misshaped the more abstract it looks.
4. Silk scarf

Okay, I won’t try to hide the connection of this urge with the popular Netflix tv show Emily In Paris. Yes, I’ve seen it (several times- don’t judge, I like to re-watch something that I like… over and over again…). And there is a scene where Emily is sitting in one of the beautiful cafes with her friend Mindy (drinking cappuccinos and eating croissants, of course), and Camille (stunning French girl) is showing up and adjusting the scarf on her neck in order to achieve that French look. For many people that scene is nothing special, but for me… It meant: YOU NEED A SCARF IN YOUR LIFE! Yes, voices in my head like to scream when they are excited. I found this one by and this one by Mauve and this one by Ssense that I really like. Also, I just have to show you this one from Hermes– work of art!
5. Dior J’Adior Slingback Pump

There are shoes and than there are Dior Slingback. As far as I’m concerned these are not even shoes, but a piece of art. I’ve never seen anything as beautiful as this – in fashion sense of course. I guess what is so mesmerizing about them is that perfectly balanced combination of retro comma heel (slightly arched shape), timeless pointy front and modernly printed ribbon. Past, present and the future. Definitely on my wish list for 2021.
6. Skill called 3D draping

As (probably every) self-thought seamstress, I have big dreams of creating beautiful new styles with nothing but a great idea and a dress form on my hand. And of course some fabric, pins and you know… the rest of the materials. And seeing some of the great work on Instagram just made my determination stronger. I was thinking to purchase some books on the subject such as this by Karolyn Kiisel or maybe this by Annette Duburg and Rixt van der Tol.
6. More plants

The best way to bring the energy of nature into your minimalistic home is by bringing some plants. And if we listen to Feng Shui, they should be placed in the wealth area (whatever that means), the entrance, office or bedroom… So basically everywhere. My favorite plants are: Monstera deliciosa, Dracaena trifasciata and Bird Of Paradise.
7. Silk pillowcases

Besides being one of the synonyms for luxury, it has great benefits. It prevents frizzy hair, decreases wrinkles (BIG ONE for me), keeps skin hydrated and regulates the temperature- among the many other things. You can buy them everywhere- but you can also make them yourself, even if you are not seamstress this is one of those beginner projects that you can’t really screw up. Some of the beautiful silk projects are this one from Mood and also this one from FWD that looks absolutely divine.
I hope you enjoyed it and maybe you got some ideas for your projects.
What are your lifestyle plans for 2021?
See you soon
xoxo Marija ❤
